Hello Dear Ones!
What a gorgeous and deeply heartfelt evening we shared with Melanie DeMore.
Thank you to all who joined in the healing power of our
synchronized voices and prayers.
"We are creating the world we want to see."
This coming Monday, we have TWO incredible song leaders!
All Zoom calls are recorded and sent out to registered participants.
I was first introduced to Lea Morris when someone posted this video on Facebook:
And I've been following her ever since.
I just can't get enough of her sweet voice, soulful spirit and her layering of songs and stacking of harmonies! You'll love her too!
While she often draws comparisons to other female phenoms like Tracy Chapman, Joni Mitchell and Ani DiFranco, LEA’s sound seamlessly blends gospel, jazz, country and R&B into her own style - SoulFolk. LEA was born in Baltimore to a father who toured the world playing trumpet in the funk band Black Heat and a mother who dreamed of opera while performing with her siblings in the Jones Family Gospel Singers. LEA was singing on the pulpit of the Baptist church
where she grew up as soon she could speak. When she discovered the acoustic guitar as a teenager, she began teaching herself to play by writing songs. LEA’s final year in high school in Germany at a classical conservatory, where she sang with the jazz ensemble Black & White and co-wrote with the British pop trio Indigo Wild.
I first experienced Roberta Kirn's dynamic song leading at
Song Village last year and loved it!
Her energy is so engaging and uplifting,
and her choices of songs spanning many different traditions are so much fun!
Roberta Kirn is a song leader, percussionist, and dancer who has been leading community singing for over 20 years. She is the founder of BeWellSing, through which she brings singing in community to as many people as she can. Her most important teachers have been Ysaye Barnwell and Bobby McFerrin. Roberta has traveled to Haiti, Africa, and Europe as part of her Song Exchange Project, teaching and collecting songs to share at home and wherever she
travels.
