~ Sunday Song in Your Pocket - Sita Ram

Published: Sun, 01/21/18

Hello Dear Friends!

I recorded this Sita Ram chant yesterday afternoon in my lovely yard. It's alive with beautiful birdsong and not so beautiful airplanes flying overhead and a few crackling microphone noises, which does disappear by the way. Putting this chant out to you today is an act of surrender on my part, as it is far from perfect. But Sunday Song in Your Pocket is about inviting you to sing along with me, not about a high production quality. And what a lovely invitation for us all to quiet the mind through this practice of chanting mantra. The mantra emerged in my field of awareness last week, and this simple melody flowed through. Enjoy! And please let me know what you think!

In short, Sita and Ram are the Divine lovers in the Hindu tradition. Through the practicing of this mantra, the sides of the brain become more balanced and the masculine and feminine qualities within us are harmonized. As our country and world struggles to find the balance, let us each find the balance within and be the change we wish to see.

If you live in the Santa Cruz area and would like to deepen your chanting practice, there are still a few spaces left in my Vocal Mindfulness class that begins this Tuesday.

Details on all classes and workshops are below.

Let us rise rise rise like a phoenix from the fire

And we will fly fly fly higher and higher and higher

And we will stand stand stand in solidarity for this sacred land

And we will lead lead lead with compassion for all humanity

And we will pray pray pray for love to show the blessed way

And we will hear hear hear the truth leads us out of fear

And we will really choose to see those we perceive to be our enemy

And we will be set free with the light that shines in you and me

And we will choose to heal the pain we feel

And we will rise above, cause we are warriors of love
